CASE 1: ADDRESSING WORKER SAFETY & ERGONOMICS

Customer Requirements:

A manufacturer of orthopedic devices had two main objectives:

1. A safe work environment for a grinding and polishing process.

- Provide effective removal of particulates and dust.
- Ensure that pneumatic tool hoses are kept off the work area.

2. Provide optimum ergonomics.

- Provide an adjustable height workstation to accommodate workers with different heights and reaches.
- Provide adequate task lighting.

The Purpose Built Solution:

1. Create a safe work environment

- A stainless-steel downdraft grate on the worksurface connects to a central dust collection system.
- A compressed air connector housed within the structural frame reduces hose interference.

2. Ensure optimum worker ergonomics.

- Base platform: Direct Drive adjustable height workstation.
- Adjustable task and precision LED lighting.
- Safety panel, casters and 20A power.

Case 2: A BI-LEVEL SOLUTION FOR WORKING ON ENGINE ASSEMBLIES

Customer Requirements:

Improve workstation ergonomics and mobility for large engine assembly.

1. Provide easy access to add parts to subassemblies.

- Need a bi-level workstation with the ability to pull out the lower tray.
- Both levels must each support up to 250 pounds.
- Ensure the design has proper ergonomics and safety—especially when pulling out the lower tray.

2. Be able to store and easily transport heavy subassemblies.

- Ability to move entire workstation when fully loaded—all without obstructions on the frame.

The Purpose Built Solution:

1. An engineered bi-level ergonomic workstation with lower pull-out tray system.

- Provides a full depth lower tray with an anti-tip floor lock.
- Includes raised grab bars that eliminate kneeling when pulling out the lower tray.
- Workstation and tray design meet load weight requirements.

2. Ensure easy mobility.

- Built from a standard workstation platform.
- Include heavy duty total lock casters.
- Ergonomic handles mounted to side framework keep work areas unobstructed and is easy to move the fully loaded workstation.

Case 3: INCREASE WORKSURFACE AREA WITH A FLIP-TOP CLEAN ROOM BENCH.

Customer Requirements:

A table with a selectable surface area to inspect different sized products in a clean room.

1. Be able to vary worksurface area depending on size of products.

- Very limited clean room floor space was the driving factor.

2. Needs to be easy to move out of the way when not in use.

- Allows the customer use the clean room for other activities.

3. Accommodate a variety of worker heights and reaches.

- Must be easy to flip tabletop wings up or down.
